Academy of Model Aeronautics
We are registered club Number 2092 in District XI of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Our club was founded in 1984. We have about thirty-five members. We have constructed a covered runway on open flat land. We have built functional work tables to accommodate eight models, and we allow up to four in the air at a time. If you decide to continue using our airfield regularly you must be an AMA member, and you must apply to join our club.

We have three certified instructors, and in good weather at least one should be at the field. We will be happy to provide a club training plane to introduce anyone to the sport hobby. There is not cost. If you enjoy it, then we expect you eventually to buy your own equipment. We recommend starting with an easy to fly, yet realistic looking airplane. Most ready to fly airplane kits are mostly junk. They use non-standardized parts and they won't teach you much about R/C. Here is a recommended pick! If you get this, or a plane like this, let us know and we'll be happy to assist you on your first flight.

Alternatively, if electric is your bag, the GWS Slowstick as pictured on the left is a great trainer.
In order to fly legally in the USA, you must join the Academy of Model Aeronautics. That gives you insurance against accidents. For further details see www.modelaircraft.org.

Joining the Club
The initial membership fee is $135 which includes a club jacket. Thereafter, yearly fees are only $35. We ask that folks attend at least three club meetings before officially joining the club.
On occation, we have club work days. We ask that our active members show up at the field on a scheduled day for runway repair and cleanup. We'll often BBQ at one of these events.
